5 Verses to Love Winter
Winter is a difficult time for many Canadians. Lack of sunlight, cold weather and short days are all factors which make us want to hibernate, and not wake up until the Spring…
However, with a good attitude and some words of encouragement, one can change all this negativity into the joy of living. In fact, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to experience four completely different seasons. God has given us this privilege, and we should be grateful for it. Therefore, here are five verses that will help you love winter.
Don’t be surprised when I say that you must be born from above. Only God’s Spirit gives new life. The Spirit is like the wind that blows wherever it wants to. You can hear the wind, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. John 3.7-8 (CEV)
The lazy person does not plow in season; harvest comes, and there is nothing to be found. Proverbs 20.4 (NRSV)
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease. Genesis 8.22 (NRSV)
Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest are faithful messengers to those who send them; they refresh the spirit of their masters. Proverbs 25.13 (NRSV)
You have sown much, and harvested little; you eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and you that earn wages earn wages to put them into a bag with holes. Haggai 1.6 (NRSV)
