The Canadian Bible Society wishes to extend its sincerest condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. As Canadians, we honour the fact that the Queen is our Head of State, and throughout her reign, has demonstrated great affection for all Canadians. She has also shown dedicated and passionate leadership among The Commonwealth of Nations and has sought to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to foster understanding and mutual respect.<\/p>\n

Her Majesty is also the Honorary Patron of the British and Foreign Bible Society which founded the Canadian Bible Society.<\/p>\n

In her role as Sovereign, the Queen has shown a great depth of faith and has revealed her love for the Word of God. This has been evident in her annual Christmas broadcasts where she frequently referred to her faith and often quoted Scripture in her messages. In addition, as the Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England, she has shown a consistent and faithful passion for worship and has supported the work of Christ in meaningful ways.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know just how much I rely on my faith to guide me through the good times and the bad. I draw strength from the message of hope in the Christian gospel.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 HM Queen Elizabeth II<\/p>\n

Our prayer is that the God revealed in the Bible will grant Her Majesty the power of Christ\u2019s resurrection and the peace of the life to come.<\/p>\n

This young lady from the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is one of the Inspire our Nation youth engaged in their leadership program. She took her Bible into two workshops that taught her skills on how to read it. She believes she has a call to ministry and rededicated her life to Christ at this retreat. <\/p>\n

\u201cI have no words to accurately describe the wonder of what happened at the Change Conference this year.<\/strong> In our years of doing this, we can’t ever think of a time where we’ve seen the students’ hearts more open to receiving the gospel. It was truly beautiful. So many students said yes to a relationship with Jesus! It will go down in the books as the year we ran out of Bibles! (in the best way possible!) When you experience the pain of acute loss and grief and your cries to God for comfort are met with silence, you may find yourself wondering how you will go on. We believe that God answers prayer and is the God of all comfort, but sometimes He seems impossibly distant and out of reach. We resonate with the aching heart of the Psalmist \u2013 \u201cMy tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long. \u2018Where is your God?<\/em>\u2019\u201d (Psalm 42:3)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What do we do when the pain seems unbearable and God seems unreachable? This is when we experience faith at its truest. \u201cFaith\u201d implies questions and trust. Faith lives in the gaps between the truths of God and the pressures of reality. Almost every hero of the faith in scripture experienced seasons of profound silence from God, and often the longer they knew God the longer the silence seemed to last. But we must never mistake silence for absence.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Christians find comfort in the fact that one day grief will end, and God will wipe every tear from our eyes. But that is then. This is now. In the midst of our suffering and pain, we anchor ourselves to the unchanging character and nature of God. Even in the crushing silence, we believe He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Faith is God\u2019s gift to us. Faithfulness is our act of worship to God.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
