Top Verses for September

When you think of worship, what comes to mind? Worship is more than singing and praising God —it’s expressing our reverence, wonder, and awe of God on a daily basis.

No matter what we go through, God is always worthy of our worship. Today, we invite you to take a few minutes to pause and remember God’s faithfulness through His Unchanging Word.

Every month, we prepare a selection of Scriptures to be read every day, providing us with the Daily Manna our souls long for. Download a FREE copy for yourself here.

Here are our five favourite verses for September:

  1. In God, whose Word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. Psa 56.4a (ESV)
This Psalm shows the two-fold effect that results from trusting in God. Our trust in Him is the reason why our souls find calmness instead of anxiety, and at the same time, it stirs feelings of love and reverence of God and His Word.
  2. This is what the LORD says – your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, the Maker of all things. Isa. 44.24a (NIV)
It can give you the chills when you read, “Maker of all things” – a phrase that reminds us of the sheer enormity of who God actually is. However, even with all of His greatness, He is not distant. He is ever-present, from the very first moment we are formed within our mother’s womb. What a beautiful reason to love and worship Him!
  3. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. Psa. 91.4a (NLT)
The term “shelter-in-place” has been used lately to reference the set of restrictions implemented in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Yet, it has stirred up controversy – many people felt that the expression brought panic, not relief. This Psalm reveals a distinct scenario — the shelter that God offers us is not a command, nor is it meant to restrict us. Instead, it is meant to help us visualize God covering and protecting us with His feathers and His wings. This picture is so vivid and filled with hope that we produced a video of our staff reciting the words of Psalm 91. Watch it here.
  4. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Eph. 6.11 (ESV).
This passage reminds us to clothe ourselves with all of God’s armour each and every day. We know He protects us – as Psalm 91.4 revealed – but He also goes beyond, enabling us to stand against evil.
  5. You are my refuge and my shield; your Word is my source of hope. Psa. 119.114 (NLT)
The last two verses from this list describe God as our refuge (Psalm 91) and our shield (Eph. 6). Now Psalm 119 declares the Word of God as our source of hope. His voice brings peace, inspires faith and ignites hope – not mere wishing or vague optimism, but an anchored conviction that God, who created us, holds us close in His love, no matter what life brings. His Word remains unchanged.
