2024 Impact Report | Please pray for a world at war

Due to armed conflict, one-fifth of the world’s Bible Societies currently face disruption and danger. By providing as much funding as we can, CBS helps partners to sustain translation, publishing, distribution and engagement efforts.

CRIMINAL VIOLENCE AND A BREAKDOWN OF GOVERNMENT AUTHORITY IN HAITI have caused over 350,000 people to be displaced. More than half are children. CBS is supporting our Haitian partner as they respond to a demand for French and Haitian Creole Bibles, New Testaments, and booklets that offer God’s love and hope. We are also creating a program to help train pastors and church leaders in Bible-based trauma healing. Please pray for pastors and Bible Society workers and that a credible government emerges to bring stability and safety to its people.

TWO YEARS AFTER RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE, Bible Society workers and volunteers continue their outreach despite the danger, casualties, and exhaustion. They report, “We are grateful that you are standing with us, and we have Bibles to distribute. Many people are very open to receiving the Word of God.” Please continue to pray for peace and the safety of Bible Society workers. IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES ACROSS THE MIDDLE EAST, our partners work amidst hatred, hostilities, the enduring pain of fresh atrocities, and challenges so intractable that peace seems out of reach. Hundreds of thousands seek spiritual answers, but sharing God’s Word and love can be difficult and dangerous. Please pray for the safety and wisdom of Christian workers and churches, and that God’s voice will be heard across the region. Please also pray for Yemen, Sudan, Myanmar, Ethiopia, and other conflict-ridden countries.

We lift our prayers to You on behalf of these nations where war is raging at this moment. We implore You to bring peace to these nations. You see the devastation caused by war: the orphaned children, the widowed women, the displaced people, and the untold suffering these people face daily. We pray for those in authority who seem to have lost control of their power. Let them hear Your voice saying: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10. Speak to the hearts of those who sow terror and death, and bring peace and security to the world. We ask for Your favour in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen!
