Sudan: Urgent Call for Prayer

Since April 15, heavy fighting in Sudan has led to over 100,000 Sudanese fleeing to neighbouring countries, while an additional 334,000 have been internally displaced. Among those forced to flee are 16 staff members and their families from the Bible Society in Sudan. This humanitarian crisis has left them in danger and in great need.

Pray for SudanPrices of food, fuel, and other basic goods are reportedly skyrocketing, making critical goods unaffordable for many people. For the last four months, the Bible Society has not been able to carry out its operation which has affected their cash flow.

The Executive Secretary of the Bible Society in Sudan – provided a brief update.

“For the last 18 days, we have been facing a difficult time. A few of us managed to relocate to safer places. The rest of our team are still in their houses because most of them are living outside Khartoum and Bari area where the fighting is very serious.

Despite a ceasefire, fighting is continuing in the capital, Khartoum, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

Please pray for the protection of our Sudanese colleagues and their families and for people to be brought to safety.

The Canadian Bible Society is committed to supporting the Bible Society of Sudan in this crisis.
