In this episode, Jonathan talks about growing up in the church with a Scottish mother and a Mohawk father, who was a missionary to the Indigenous people. He talks about how he had previously distanced himself from his cultural roots and his incredible journey back to his identity as a Mohawk and how God is now using his ministry and music to reach the Indigenous community in a powerful way.

Jonathan Maracle

Jonathan is a Mohawk/Scot from Ontario, Canada. His father was a Mohawk Elder and Visionary Rev. Andrew C. Maracle Sr., his mother was Lillian Jane Ross, daughter of Scottish/Welsh English immigrants.

As the visionary and founder of Broken Walls (an internationally recognized Indigenous musical group and ministry) Jonathan has travelled the world for the past 26 years. The vision of Broken Walls is to see people from cultural minorities restored and able to walk in their true destiny, realizing and able to share their unique gifts and abilities with the world around them.

Lorna Dueck has explored the intersection of journalism and Christianity for over 30 years. Her most recent full-time role was as CEO of Crossroads Christian Communications, Inc. and the show, “Context with Lorna Dueck”.

Lorna was a regular commentary writer on faith and public life in Canada’s leading national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, and is a frequent media commentator. She has travelled the world reporting on church-led response to humanitarian crisis.

Lorna earned a Master of Arts in Evangelism and Leadership from Wheaton College. She has received honorary doctorate degrees from Trinity, Tyndale, Briercrest and Wycliffe Universities. Lorna has received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to Canadian society.
