The Canadian Bible Society joins family, friends, and colleagues in mourning the passing of John Paul Thomas Fink, 85, who passed away Thursday evening.
Paul served faithfully on CBS’ investment committee for many decades. Over many years, Paul was a true blessing to the Canadian Bible Society. His wisdom was always valued, and we treasured his warmth, his generous spirit, and his good‑humoured reflections on life and the economy.
Paul leaves a strong and enduring legacy of stewarding CBS’ investments with care and integrity—helping to ensure CBS continue the ministry God has called us to, and enabling Scripture to reach people around the world.
Early this year, CBS announced the establishment of the Paul and Ruth Fink Fund, a $1‑million commitment to advance Scripture translation and engagement globally—a gift that reflects Paul’s lifelong passion for faithful stewardship and expanding access to God’s Word.

“Paul Fink exemplified what it means to steward God’s gifts with humility, wisdom, and faith,” said Rev. Dr. Rupen Das, President, Canadian Bible Society. “His able leadership and long‑standing counsel strengthened CBS in ways that will continue to bear fruit for generations. Through the Paul and Ruth Fink Fund, Paul’s love for Scripture and his commitment to seeing lives transformed by God’s Word will continue long after his passing.”
We give thanks to God for Paul’s life, his faithful service, and the lasting impact of his generosity and vision. Our prayers are with Ruth and the Fink family as they grieve and celebrate a life well considered.
