Scripture and the Arts

God, the Artist and Creator

God is the creator of everything that we see around us in the natural world. When He finished creating, “God saw that it was good” (Gen. 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25). Through His most beautiful self-expression, He extends an invitation to us to labour in His image by creating and also appreciating and marveling at creation.

The Interface of Scriptures and Art

CBS is all about helping people hear God speak. We believe art is a sublime form of expression that can help people understand the deeper meaning of Scriptures by drawing them closer to the narrative and the theme.

Crossings Toronto, an Easter Arts Exhibition

CBS sponsored Crossings; an Easter arts exhibition inspired by the Scriptural Stations of the Cross. It was part of an international series of art exhibitions which has, since 2016, been bringing the Passion story to public attention in major urban settings.

We hope this catalogue will be a valued resource of inspiration as you view the images and read the poetry and reflections, all mediating the iconic story of the Passion of Jesus.

Tracings of the Canadian Soul

This book is a celebration of Canada and shows how Biblical principles, Scriptures and faith can be seen throughout the design and architecture of our Parliament Buildings. These Scripture passages and Christian themes urge us to consider what it means to be a nation of peace and justice in a modern world.
