word@work Issue 2 | 2025: Your Impact in China

A lost lamb hears the Shepherd calling her home

You have helped end the wait for thousands and thousands of Christians in China who were once longing for their own Bible. And what an impact your gift of God’s Word has made for Peng, a woman from Shandong province in China.

As a young woman, Peng had attended church and called herself a Christian. But over the years the troubles of life weighed her down. She stopped going to church and her heart grew cold toward God.

But one spring day, she agreed to help with a special event at the church. As she worked alongside an elderly gentleman, he gently encouraged her to speak to the Lord in prayer and cast her cares on Him. “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

In the weeks that followed, Peng reconnected with her faith. A fellow believer encouraged her to read the Bible daily. At first, she struggled to understand God’s Word, but over time, the words began to speak to her heart.

Each morning, Peng wakes with a longing to read God’s Word. The more she learns, the more she desires to share it with others. Now the Bible has become Peng’s guide, helping her navigate life’s struggles and bringing her closer to God.

Once she felt like a lost sheep, but through God’s Word Peng has finally heard the Shepherd’s voice calling her home.
