CONDEMNED TO DIE IN LIBERIA
When they discovered that their son had been born blind, Samuel’s parents were pressured by their community to kill him. But they could not. Instead, they hid him in a bush along the road, where they left him to die alone.
Thankfully, he was soon discovered by the wife of the parish priest, who took Samuel in and raised him.
“I believe my parents did not kill me because they may have heard the words ‘Thou shall not kill,’” Samuel explains. “It instilled in them a fear that saved my life.”
Samuel grew up loving Jesus, growing in faith as he learned to read his Braille Bible.
The generosity of Canadians like you helps provide God’s Word to blind and vision-impaired people in accessible formats and by offering Bible engagement classes, Braille Bibles, and audio Bible listening groups.
You also help participants receive essential mobility and learning tools, including white canes, Braille slates and styluses, and Perkins Braille machines — so they can grow in independence, dignity, and faith.
