In this interview, listen to Rev. Dr. Andrew Stirling (Ambassador, Canadian Bible Society) engage in a conversation with Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart (Dean, St. Andrew’s Hall at The University of British Columbia) about the influence of Scripture in his life. Dr. Lockhart shares about his mother’s early faith influence on him and about how at the core of his identity as a baptized Christian, there is a deep love and reverence for God’s Word.
Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart
Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart is the Dean of St. Andrew’s Hall at The University of British Columbia. He is also the Professor of Mission Studies at The Vancouver School of Theology where he teaches courses in missiology and practical theology.
Ross has served congregations in the Reformed tradition from Halifax to Vancouver as well as sabbaticals with The Presbyterian Church in Ireland. He is a weekly guest preacher in local congregations and Minister in Association at St. Andrew’s/St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church in North Vancouver.
Dr. Lockhart, who wrote the book, Christian Witness in Cascadian Soil, says that in Cascadia (Oregon, Washington, B.C), one has the opportunity to explore Christian community and evangelism in a secular environment.

Reverend Doctor Andrew Stirling was the Senior Minister of Timothy Eaton Memorial United Church in Toronto, one of Canada’s largest United Church congregations and was responsible for leadership and administration at Timothy Eaton from 1998 until his more recent retirement. Overseeing staff, providing visionary leadership, acting as the public representative of over 1,500 members and managing a dynamic and ever-evolving ministry to the city of Toronto and beyond.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Law from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, a Master of Divinity from the Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a Doctor of Ministry in preaching from Acadia Divinity College, Wolfville, Nova Scotia. In 2008, Wycliffe College, Toronto, recognized his contribution to preaching with an honorary Doctor of Divinity.
Andrew is now also the Ambassador for the Canadian Bible Society building relationships with churches, academic institutions and individuals across Canada.
