Watch or listen to Bishop Linda Adams, Bishop of the Free Methodist Church in Canada, being interviewed by veteran journalist Lorna Dueck. Bishop Linda Adams served the Free Methodist Church in the US for 32 years and then was elected to serve as Bishop of the Free Methodist Church in Canada in 2024. In this episode she talks about walking alongside the Free Methodist Church to build connections and prioritize cross-cultural relationships across Canada, and how the Bible has equipped her to care for vulnerable children and fuels her mission.
In this interview Linda and Lorna discuss:

  • Going from strength to strength, like the pilgrims on the journey to Zion in Psalm 84, Linda shares that she has gotten stronger, feels like she knows Jesus better than she ever did and has as much energy for ministry as she did 20 years ago.
  • The Bible equipped Linda to care for vulnerable children   since she was a teen. There were Bible passages she couldn’t get away from – especially those where Jesus welcomed and blessed the children like in Matthew 18:6 and Exodus 2:2-10.
  • Walking alongside the Free Methodist Church, Linda is building connections and prioritizing cross-cultural relationships across Canada’s diverse landscape.
  • The Bible fuels her challenging work by starting every morning with Seedbed Daily Text and a hymn, and uses a Bible app to read and/or listen to Scripture.
  • Although Church attendance is declining, Linda sees hope. She sees God still moving in people’s lives and churches being re-energized.
  • Linda gives advice to the younger people and encourages them to trust God to help them find their path. She explains that God made you and knows you best and loves you most. You can simply say, “Here I am” and then let God lead you one step at a time along your path, and you’ll get stronger as you go.

Bishop Linda Adams
