In this episode, they talk about the incredible work of the Bible Society for the Netherlands and Flanders, and how in a fairly secularized society they are engaging the next generation with the Family Bible and Youth Bible. Rieuwerd also shares about their new initiative, the Migration Bible that has been reaching the thousands of migrants who have come to the Netherlands, and how this is impacting the global Church.

Dr. Rieuwerd Buitenwerf

Dr. Rieuwerd Buitenwerf is the General Secretary of the Bible Society for the Netherlands and Flanders (BSNF), and also a Board Member of the United Bible Societies. His work at BSNF includes many projects with a large focus on Bible Engagement, and Youth and Children’s ministry. BSNF’s focus on Bible Engagement saw the birth of the Family Bible for the Netherlands, with a wide distribution of almost 700,000 copies into 25 countries.

Rieuwerd has also tried to emphasize diversity in the ministry of the Bible Society for the Netherlands and Flanders, with a new initiative partnering with Migrant Churches and the joint global project of the Migration Bible, that was recently launched. He studied theology at and has a PhD from Leiden University and is the author of several books. His wife is a minister in the Protestant Church, and they are the parents of three teenagers.

Lorna Dueck

Lorna Dueck has explored the intersection of journalism and Christianity for over 30 years. Her most recent full-time role was as CEO of Crossroads Christian Communications, Inc. and the show, “Context with Lorna Dueck”.

Lorna was a regular commentary writer on faith and public life in Canada’s leading national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, and is a frequent media commentator. She has travelled the world reporting on church-led response to humanitarian crisis.

Lorna earned a Master of Arts in Evangelism and Leadership from Wheaton College. She has received honorary doctorate degrees from Trinity, Tyndale and Briercrest Universities. Lorna has received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for contributions to Canadian society.

Lorna and her husband Vern live in the Toronto suburbs, have been married over three decades, and delight in the adventures of their grown son and daughter.
